Darcey Steinke is the author of the novels Jesus Saves, Suicide Blonde, and Up Through the Water. With Rick Moody, she edited Joyful Noise: The New Testament Revisited, and her nonfiction has appeared in Spin, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, and The Guardian (London). She currently teaches writing at the New School and plays guitar in the New York rock band Ruffian

In: “You‚re a Big Girl Now: Thoughts On A Rock Adulthood” Darcey Steinke overcomes a geographically challenged childhood, stuttering, KISS fandom, house music and other adolescent perils in her spiritual quest. The music of Bob Dylan eventually nourishes her listless soul, yet her search for transcendence continues. It leads from Graceland to complete control of her CD player, and beyond.
