Tom Kipp

Tom Kipp presented "Taxonomizing Sludge!" at the 2003 Pop Conference, and has been involved (as "singer", synth player or confidant) with the bands Deranged Diction, Ein Heit, Silkworm and The Stardust Flamers. He lives in Seattle and works in the Shipping & Receiving Department of The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and so Seattle writer and musician Tom Kipp shows us that vacuous rock and roll hacks are often motivated by pure intentions. Kipp demonstrates through sound samples how numerous 80s arena rockers attempted to imitate the music of Sly and the Family Stone.
