[HELP] Listen Live Player Freezes and then Starts During Play

DESCRIPTION
For some listeners the live streaming will play, stop, and then restart after a few seconds. This can happen once, or multiple times.

This can be caused by several factors including, internet bandwidth issues, internet throttling, buffering issues, system configuration, hardware issues or competing software.

RESOLUTION
For users that experience interrupted playback, we recommend that you switch to a player such as iTunes, VLC or Winamp and see if the problem persists.

Details on how to set up the KEXP live stream via a third party tool is detailed above.

[HELP] Listen Live Player Buffers Continuously and Music Does Not Start

DESCRIPTION
For some listeners, the Listen Live Player continuously stays in the "Buffering" state and never resolves to the live stream where music is heard.

RESOLUTION
We have seen this issue when the listener is running an anti-virus software that evaluates the stream for up to 10 minutes.

Adding "http://kexp.org" to the anti-virus software whitelist will resolve this issue in most cases.

If you are unsure how to do this, we can try to help! Simply submit a ticket to SUPPORT TICKET, and be sure to tell us what anti-virus software you are running.

[HELP] Stream Plays in iTunes/VLC/WinAmp For A Few Seconds Then Stops.

DESCRIPTION
Sometimes we have seen issues when streaming from a player such as iTunes, VLC, Winamp, etc may play up to 40 seconds, then stops.

There have been cases where our pre-roll plays, the live stream starts, and then kicks back to the pre-roll. This is a related issue.

RESOLUTION
Typically this is due to the KEXP bookmark getting corrupted in the choosen player.

We recommend removing the bookmark and re-adding it with the instructions above or with the article below "Resetting Your iTunes Stream from a Playlist".

[HELP] Stream Plays Fine For a Few Hours Then Stops.

DESCRIPTION
The Live Stream plays for several hours, then stops and does not start back up.

RESOLUTION
KEXP implemented a four (4) hour streaming timeout to help control costs incurred to the station. Listeners simply need to restart the stream and will be good for the next four hours.

[HELP] Stream Plays But Stops and Starts During Playback

DESCRIPTION
The Live Stream plays, stops, then starts again, only to stop and start again a short time later.

RESOLUTION
This typically is due to the computer running the stream not being fast enough to keep up with the stream buffering.

There are several ways to improve your system, but we recommend switching to a third party player such as iTunes or Winamp using one of the MP3 streams. Details on how to do this are above on this page.

[HELP] Stream Takes Several Minutes To Start Playing

DESCRIPTION
Sometimes when you click on Listen Live! streaming player, no sound happens for several minutes, then begins to play.

RESOLUTION
This typically is due to a anti-virus software that might be running on your machine. You may try briefly disabling your anti-virus software and see if it is the source of the issue.

If it is the anti-virus software, you may consider adding the KEXP stream to a whitelist or consulting with your IT department to add the stream to a accepted stream.

The anti-virus software Sophos has this article detailing the issue HERE

[HELP] Track, Album and Artist text does not match what's playing
