New Website Information

Why did you redesign the site?
The previous KEXP website was not built to hold as much music and related content as we had to offer. We also had ideas that needed a better platform in order to offer them to listeners.

In addition, we listened to you! We had many comments and requests about the website, and these inspired ideas for new features, including the mini-playlist and another format for the Streaming Archive.

Why don’t my bookmarks work?
Two reasons - the site was previously built with (and limited by) frames, which when removed caused the page addresses to change. The second reason is simply that there are many new pages and some of the previous pages were organized differently within the navigation.

If you have the site or its pages bookmarked, you’ll need to reset your bookmarks. A task well worth the effort, we hope!

What’s new in each section?

Playlist:
Mini Playlist - allows you to keep the most recent five songs played open on your computer all day long.

Archived Audio:
Streaming Archive – the archive of the last 14 days of KEXP broadcasts is easier to use and offers Real Audio in addition to Windows Media.
Live Performances – now you can find an in studio performance by artist, genre, date or by a special community broadcast event.

Programming:
Program Pages -- DJs describe how they put together their shows.
Program Grid - highlights shows by the style of music as well as broadcast time.
Upcoming In Studio Guests - shows the schedule of artists to appear live on air.

"Congrats on the reborn web site!! It is graphically invigorating, and the information design is a huge leap forward in usability. Features I particularly like are the easy access to archived playlists and the hugely improved search features for archived reviews. The "now playing" ticker is also very cool." (San Francisco)

"Wow! What a surprise this morning to see the new site launch! Looks and works friggin great!" (New York)

"The new site is incredible. Thank you all so much for making this happen. The ease of checking the playlist and going back in time is perfect..." (Seattle)

"As I'm sure you've heard, its wicked, it wrocks, its totally awesome dudes! I found myself spacing out on the little KEXP logo with the bars that go up and down, nearly convinced that they actually were tied to the audio" (Kirkland)
